TWILL CONSERVATION

Textile & Art Conservation in Park City, Utah

The Studio

Twill Conservation is a private textile and art conservation studio based in Park City, Utah. The studio focuses on the preservation and stabilization of historic and contemporary textiles, garments, quilts, tapestries, flags and banners, liturgical vestments, fiber artworks, and mixed-material objects.

Led by textile and objects conservator Livi van de Star, MSc, the studio provides museum-quality treatments, condition assessments, mounting solutions, and preservation planning for private clients, families, galleries, and institutions.

Approach to Textile Conservation

Treatments are minimally interventive, documented, and carried out with reversible, museum-grade materials. Each conservation plan considers how the textile was made, how it has been used, and how it will be handled or displayed in the future, balancing stability, appearance, and historical integrity.

Our philosophy forms the foundation of the studio. Each treatment affirms the original intent and heritage of the object and upholds high standards in conservation science. The Twill approach is grounded in scientific analysis, cultural sensitivity, and ethical decision-making. We work with you to determine an appropriate path for stabilization or restoration and provide clear, detailed plans tailored to your objects’ needs.
